We have a newly remodeled boarding facility that is equipped to house dogs, cats, reptiles, pet birds, and small mammals. Our Kennel Technicians monitor the boarders throughout the day making sure everyone is clean and warm. Dogs are walked outside on a leash regularly throughout the day. If any concerns arise the Kennel Technicians immediately alert the Doctors and Nurses ensuring your pet receives the best care. If you have never boarded with us we ask that you bring a copy of vaccines for your dogs and/or cats. We do require specific testing for pet birds boarding as well. We encourage you to bring toys, treats, and food your pet is accustomed to eating to decrease the chance of tummy upsets.
To expedite the check-in process you can download the BOARDING INFORMATION FORM. Reservations are required due to facility capacity. Please call or stop by to make your reservations as soon as you know your dates. Holidays are especially busy so schedule your reservations early!
Requirements for boarding are as follows:
Dogs
Must be current for the following vaccines (3 year vaccines are accepted for DAPP and Rabies if the proper protocol of initial vaccine followed by booster 1 year later has been performed):
Rabies--1 year and 3 year vaccines are accepted, also check with your local city to detemine if they have specific requirements regarding the Rabies vaccine.
DAPP--(Distemper, Adeno virus, Parafluenza, and Parvo virus) This vaccine is accepted as a 1 year or 3 year vaccine.
Bordetella--must be boosted every 6 months
Leptospirosis--this vaccine is not required for boarding, however your dog may be at risk for exposure to this virus and we recommend discussing with your veterinarian if your dog should receive this vaccine.
H3N8 Influenza--boostered yearly, this vaccine is a new addition to our requirements. In late 2009 we started recommending dogs that are exposed to other dogs receive the H3N8 vaccine due to the highly contagious and potentially fatal nature of this virus. Similar to the human H1N1 Influenza, this H3N8 is a specific canine strain but has also mutated into other species as well. To learn more about this virus click HERE.
Cats
Must be current for the following vaccines.
Rabies--boostered yearly
FVRCP--(Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis Calicivirus And Panleukopenia) boosted yearly
Feline Leukemia/FIV test--Cats must test negative for FELV/FIV prior to boarding, discuss with your veterinarian if your cat should receive the Leukemia vaccine yearly.
Pet Birds
We require yearly testing for pet birds to board with us. Birds that are current on testing are housed in our "Well Bird Aviary". If your bird has not been tested we will temporarily house them in our "Observation Aviary" where there is a risk they could be exposed to ill birds. We strongly recommend testing prior to boarding.
Intestinal Parasite Diagnostics--checking for intestinal parasites such as coccidia or giardia
Bacterial Culture--swab is taken of the choanal (throat) to check for bacteria
Chlamydia-- also known as "parrot fever" or Psittacosis is spread by a bacterial infection of birds that can cause severe pneumonia and other serious health problems among humans.
We also recommend bringing toys, treats, and food your bird is accustomed to eating. We do provide pellets and fresh vegetables unless you specify otherwise.
Reptiles and Small Mammals
There is currently no testing requirements for boarding reptiles or small mammal, however annual physical exams are important to detect illnesses or husbandry concerns early giving your reptile/small mammal the best care available. We do recommend bringing any special lights, heating elements, enclosures, food, treats, etc your pet may require during their stay. We do have a limited supply of small enclosures available for reptiles and small mammals depending on their size. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you will need us to provide the enclosure so we can make arrangements.
Please contact us for any further questions or concerns.
